Support You Can Trust

Transparent pricing for couples therapy, individual counselling, family counselling services, and more. We can support in navigating your insurance coverage.

At Vaughan Relationship Centre, our counselling and therapy services are provided on a fee-for-service basis and are not covered by OHIP. Many clients choose to pay out of pocket, but most prefer to use their extended health benefits. If you don’t have benefits coverage, we’re happy to explore options to support your mental health and relationship goals.

Using Your Benefits

If you plan to use your benefits, it’s essential that we match you with the right professional to ensure your sessions are covered. When reviewing your plan, check if it includes any of the following:

  • Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW)
  • Registered Marriage and Family Therapist (RMFT)
  • Registered Psychotherapist (RP)
  • Registered Psychologist (C. Psych)

At Vaughan Relationship Centre, our team consists primarily of Registered Social Workers with advanced training in couples counselling, marriage counselling, sex therapy, and family counselling services. If your plan requires a different designation, such as a psychologist, we can provide you with trusted referral suggestions.

What to Ask Your Insurance Provider

To make the most of your coverage, consider asking:

  • What types of therapists are covered (social worker, psychotherapist, marriage and family therapist, psychologist)?
  • When does your coverage year begin and end (some plans do not follow the calendar year)?
  • What is your annual coverage limit, and is there a per-session cap?
  • Are virtual services like relationship counselling online or counsellors online covered?

This information can help you plan your therapy sessions effectively.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions depends on your unique situation. For some clients, 8–10 sessions may provide significant progress. However, many couples aiming to strengthen their connection through couples therapy, marriage counselling, or sex therapy find that 12–20 sessions offer a more lasting transformation. If you are engaging in couples therapy for one or exploring family counselling services, your therapist will work with you to create a plan that fits your goals.

Additional Notes

Each of our therapists has their own fee structure. Once we determine the best fit for your needs, we’ll let you know the specific rate before beginning therapy. There are no surprises just transparent, upfront communication so you can make an informed decision.

If you’re unsure whether your coverage includes services from a couples therapist, best family therapist, or sex therapist, we’re here to guide you.
