DON’T JUST TALK:
MASTERING COMMUNICATION
THROUGH UNDERSTANDING
When couples face dissatisfaction in their relationship, they often feel it is due to a lack of communication. This is simply not true. Most of us know how to communicate. The struggle is understanding our partner. Sometimes, emotions speak, and it can be difficult to understand your partner beyond the emotions. While it would be ideal for partners to communicate directly, emotions frequently take the lead in relationships.
In this self-directed course, which will take under an hour, Amanda Bacchus, MSW, RSW, RP, RMFT-SQ, will:
- Discuss the common myths around communication in your relationship.
- Help you identify and understand your communication style and your partner’s.
- Explore the reasons behind withdrawal or persistence in arguments with your partner.
- Learn strategies to communicate with your partner better, so that you can manage when you get upset or have overwhelming feelings.
- Develop effective communication techniques to enhance your communication style.
This course will give you some tools to fast-forward therapy, saving you time and money. This course requires a one-time payment of $199 CAD, which is the average price of one couples therapy session in Ontario. However, you get about five sessions of content packed into one hour. After completing this course, you can walk into a therapist’s office and tell them you already know about different communication styles and have some communication tools.
