Depression can make even the smallest tasks feel overwhelming. You might look fine to others but feel empty, anxious, or disconnected on the inside. Whether you’re navigating burnout, relationship strain, or feeling stuck in a cycle of hopelessness, our therapists are here to help.
At Vaughan Relationship Centre, we provide compassionate, evidence-based depression counselling in Toronto and online. Whether you need individual support or are navigating depression in the context of a relationship, we’ll find a way to help you.
What Is Depression Counselling?
Depression counselling is a safe, structured space to help you explore your thoughts and emotions, uncover root causes of distress, and build tools for relief. At our family counseling center, we offer therapy for professionals, parents, caregivers, and anyone feeling weighed down by the pressures of life.
We support people struggling with:
Whether you’re seeking couples therapy, individual sessions, or online counselling support, we tailor our care to meet your needs.
What Makes Our Depression Counselling Unique?
At Vaughan Relationship Centre, our approach blends practical strategies with compassionate, trauma-informed care. Our therapists understand that depression often shows up differently across individuals—especially among high-functioning women, helping professionals, and caregivers who feel they can’t “afford” to fall apart.
We specialize in:
Our therapists are also trained to recognize when depression is linked to deeper issues like trauma, grief, anxiety, or sexual health concerns—and we adjust your care accordingly.
Many people delay seeking support because they don’t think their struggles are “bad enough.” But depression isn’t always about crying or staying in bed. It can look like:
Whether you need therapy for depression, couples counselling, or help navigating a recent life change, we’re here to guide you back to yourself.
Your first individual therapy session is 60 minutes and designed to help us understand what’s going on beneath the surface. From there, we’ll build a personalized plan to help you:
We also offer couples therapy individual sessions when depression is impacting your partnership, even if your partner isn’t ready to attend.
Do you offer depression counselling online?
Yes. We offer virtual sessions across Ontario, making it easier to access support from the comfort of your home.
How long does depression counselling take?
It varies. Some clients feel relief in 6–8 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine what feels right.
Is this covered by insurance?
Most of our therapists are Registered Social Workers or Psychotherapists. If your plan covers counselling or therapy with an RSW or RP, you may be eligible for reimbursement. We’ll confirm your provider match before you begin.
Can you help if I’m also struggling in my relationship?
Absolutely. Depression and relationship distress often go hand-in-hand. We specialize in integrated support—whether you attend solo or with your partner.

There is a difference between being depressed and feeling “stuck.” If “bad moods” are continuing and not shifting, or if you’re noticing you’re isolating yourself even further from your loved ones, you could be showing signs of depression.

At Vaughan Relationship Centre, we have guided many couples through the challenging times of depression and empower couples to heal the relationship. These tips can help you weather the storm successfully together.
