Dana Goretsas

Registered Social Worker

Dana believes that meaningful change often begins when people feel safe enough to look beneath their immediate reactions and understand what is happening at a deeper emotional level.

Many individuals and couples recognize that the same conflicts, feelings, or patterns keep repeating, but may not understand why. Dana helps clients slow these moments down and explore what their reactions may be communicating, what they may be protecting, and where new choices may become possible.

Her style is warm, approachable, and collaborative. Dana does not see therapy as a process in which the therapist provides answers to a passive client. She views clients as the experts in their own lives and works alongside them to better understand their experiences, relationships, and goals.

Dana places considerable value on the relationship she develops with each client. She strives to create an environment where people feel comfortable, respected, and able to speak honestly without being reduced to a diagnosis or defined by the problem that brought them to therapy.

Her work balances emotional exploration with practical change. Dana helps clients understand the deeper patterns beneath their current concerns while also identifying steps that feel realistic, meaningful, and sustainable in everyday life.

Dana is particularly interested in helping individuals and couples develop greater emotional attunement—the ability to notice, understand, and respond to their own emotions and the emotions of the people closest to them. This can help clients communicate more clearly, respond with greater intention, and build relationships that feel safer and more connected.

She also recognizes that emotional well-being does not exist in isolation. Her approach considers the relationships and systems surrounding each client, including family history, intimate relationships, parenting roles, cultural expectations, caregiving responsibilities, and significant life transitions.

Dana’s goal is to help clients develop a stronger understanding of themselves, greater confidence in their choices, and relationships that feel healthier, more secure, and more sustainable.

Dana is a Registered Social Worker and a Student Member of the Canadian Association for Couple and Family Therapy. She completed her Master of Social Work at the University at Buffalo and has pursued additional training in couples and family therapy, sex therapy, relationship conflict, and emotionally focused approaches.

Her work is grounded in humanistic and systemic therapy. A humanistic approach honours each client’s dignity, strengths, and capacity for growth. A systemic approach considers how relationships, families, culture, responsibilities, and life experiences shape emotional well-being.
