If your inner beach bum is counting down the days until the summer, we hear you! There are plenty of good reasons why you may prefer the sunny, warm weather to the wintertime. Beyond the beach days, suntans, and lounging by the pool, there are many benefits that can noticeably impact and improve your life using the weather. Feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin, soaking in that fresh air and vitamin D and coming out from hibernation mode – it affects your entire body in many different ways and impacts your health and wellbeing. Here are a few ways that you can take full advantage of the weather this season and use it to help improve your life.
Get Active and Feel Great
When the weather is sunny and warm outside, the last thing we Canadians want to do is waste it by staying cooped up inside. Being out in the sunshine awakens your body and mind from that sleepy winter slumber. And, of course, there’s no better time to take advantage of your newfound motivation than by getting active. Whether it’s going for a stroll through the park, hitting the trails, or biking along the waterfront, the weather is a significant motivating factor for getting you outside and active, which makes you feel great in return. And when you start to feel good about yourself, you are naturally more inclined to open up to others, too.
Improve Your Social Interaction
The weather can significantly impact your social life as well. Who really wants to trudge through the snow and sub-zero temperatures to meet up with someone after work? Being cooped up inside means that social engagement and interaction with others can become quite sparse, which is never a good thing for anyone’s emotional state of mind. We are naturally social beings who need that human-to-human connection. So as the weather warms up, take full advantage of it by getting out and making an effort to reconnect with others.
Add Adventure Back Into the Mix
If you’re not a big fan of the winter, the chances are that your sense of adventure can also take a severe dip, even when you are in a relationship during the cold winter months. There’s only so much Netflix you can watch before going a little stir crazy! But adventure is the spice of life and is necessary for any relationship to really thrive. Remember all the little things you used to do as a new couple? Finding adventure – even in the small things, like trying out a new café, planning a weekend getaway, or exploring a part of the city you’ve never been to before – are simple ways to add that spice back into your life. Exploring new things together and feeling that tinge of excitement again is right for you and your relationship.
